'Theatre West was formed in 1990
by Joint Artistic Directors Alison Comley and Ann Stiddard with
the aim of producing exciting, innovative and, above all, accessible
theatre.
'Our first productions were at the
Showboat pub on Gloucester Road in Bristol. In 1997 we worked
with the brewery Scottish
and Newcastle to convert the function room of the Alma Tavern
in Clifton, Bristol into a purpose built 50 seat theatre, and
made the move to our present home.
'We produce an autumn season each
year focusing on late 20th century and new writing, and make an
annual visit to the Studio at the Bristol
Old Vic.
'We have also toured Latvia on several
occasions where we have cemented strong cultural links, and have
been regular visitors to the Edinburgh
Fringe.' |
